I agree that the relationship between Harper and Knox is quite different and that on one hand it is true that the dominance side is present. Between women who think she does not deserve him, others who target her to reach him, or those who want to discover which class of demons Knox belongs to, Harper will have many things to manage. However, this relationship will also bring its share of trouble because the position of alter ego in relation to this man raises many dangers. Determined to make her his own despite the suspicion of the young woman, Knox is ready to do anything to make her succumb and “no” is not an answer for him. He is all that she is not: powerful, arrogant, overbearing, cunning … but it seems that he is her alter ego. We discover Harper Wallis, a young demon who evolves quietly in society until she crosses the road of Knox. I greatly appreciated that the author managed to create a world with new ideas. We embark on a demon story with a completely different world from what we usually find.
Indeed, some reviews have begun to be mixed and some people did not like the strange relationship between the two characters, but maybe because I knew it or maybe it’s personal but I did not have any difficult feelings about it and I rather had a good time with the story. I got a little scared before reading it I must admit. Review: I liked one of the other series written by Suzanne Wright (although I only read the three first books) and I was curious to discover this first new volume. Even if it will mean letting the demon inside him rise and wreak the havoc it was created to make. He won’t allow anyone to take her from him.
